K-9 Visit

This last week, we read Aero  & Officer Mike, a story about a police officer and his police dog partner. The students LOVED learning more about how the dog helps the officer do his job. It was so great to see the students get excited about all the connections they could make to their own lives with their dogs!

To cap off the wonderful week, we had an officer from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office visit with his own police dog! The students were able to see the dog perform it's drug-sniffing talents and follow the instructions of the officer.

  1. I did something similar many years ago, with one of the KC drug dogs. The kids do love seeing the dogs, but it was hard for them to sit still, so the dog wasn't distracted! It's great when you can make a real life connection come to them!
