Today we became bracketologists! Because the first (play-in), second, and third rounds of the NCAA tournament were over our Spring Break, we created our brackets today. Not sure any of them would have picked the upsets that occurred, but hopefully those are over (at least for this Jayhawk fan!).
The students filled out their brackets and I posted them in the classroom. During the afternoon, many of the students walked over when they had time and check out what teams their classmates had chosen. Later this week, we will add some geography to the mix and find the cities where the universities are as well as the cities where the games are held.
How fun! I know nothing about college basketball (only that Gonzaga is my fav) And we have a teacher pool for them. I never win. This year, I had two of my students fill my out for me. They didn't do too bad except for the major upsets:-)

The kids love to compete against one another. I'm excited for their reactions on Monday after the next round of games are played. Smart of you to have kiddos fill it out, sometimes emotions play too much into my picks! :)
DeleteHey!! I just found your blog and am SO EXCITED that I did. I teach 3rd grade in Wichita, KS. What a cute idea to fill out the brackets. We are doing a March Madness reading contest and boy are these kids competitive!
ReplyDeleteThis is random, but we should totally collaborate!
Oh! I've always wanted to do a reading bracket (either actual books or characters in books)! Such a great idea to have kiddos get into the books. And a little competition never hurt anyone, right?) And, I see you are a Jayhawk! My hubs and I are headed to Dallas after school tomorrow to watch the boys play on Saturday!
DeleteI'm totally up for some collaboration!!
What a great idea Erin! Hey, I'm nominating your blog for the Liebster Award. Come over to my blog to check out the rules.
